Conservation runs through a small set of long-standing relationships, each in a different shape. Every booking with Sausage Tree contributes R50 to Daktari Bush School and Wildlife Orphanage, the local conservation-education programme and wildlife rehabilitation centre we have supported since the camp opened. We also support the Black Mambas anti-poaching unit, the all-women team recognised with the UNEP Champions of the Earth Award in 2015. We promote guest visits to the Nourish Eco-Village community project in nearby Hoedspruit, and we are members of Pack for a Purpose — travellers can carry a few kilos of school and medical supplies for Daktari and Nourish in their luggage on the way in.
